Hey Andy, I went out last night and bought some Jojoba oil at a Natural Health Foods store. I can definitely tell the difference in my hair today. My beard used to poke my chin pretty bad. I find it's more tame as well. It wasn't too expensive either. Thanks!

Andy, Your beard motivates me to keep growing. You'd mentioned jojoba oil for dry hair. What do you recommend and where do you buy it?

Thanks! I saw your update at 3 weeks, and you were making great process... keep growing! Yes, I find that jojoba oil really helps to alleviate dryness, and also softens the hair. Without it, my beard becomes so dry and stiff that some of the hair even starts to break. Every morning, I put a few drops on the palm of my hand, rub my hands together to spread it out, and then rub it on my beard. I follow that by a good combing to spread it throughout. [I do this after getting out of the shower - that is, I leave the jojoba oil in, and don't rinse it out.] I use NOW Foods brand 100% pure unrefined jojoba oil. There is also a refined version available, which should be just as effective (but generally more expensive) - it's just processed to remove the natural odor and color. The best place to find it is at a health food / natural foods / nutrition store. You also might be able to find it at places that specialize in beauty products, but it tends to be pricey at those locations.

    Hi Andy!
Thank you for your encourgements! I received compliments for my beard today so it helps to ignore the bad comments I had previously. I am committed to a 6 months bushy beard. I suggest you should keep yours growing because of the winter. Your beard is really fabulous and it would be a pity to come back to a previous style. It must keep you out of ordinary people, it gives you a stern look, it makes you quite different from others. Those are good reasons to stay original. Longer beards are nicer I agree. I just wonder if that length is not disturbing eg when sleeping.Anyway it is a reward to stroke it, to feel it in the wind on cycling and your cat must apreciate it.
If you ever come to Europe let me know! You must have your roots either in England, Scotland or Ireland and you might be interested in tracing up your roots. Many French speaking Canadians have relatives in the area along the Atlantic coast.
Enjoy your beard till a next post.
    Hugs from Philippe
